Just wanted to let you know how happy my family and I have been over the past several years with the services and that you and your agency have provided. Prior to contacting you I hired individual caretakers to care for my mother...

Hand Hygiene

Posted on: October 23rd, 2014

Hand Hygiene

There is nothing more important in the healthcare profession than good hand hygiene. Germs are spread constantly, but you can take your part in helping to fight those nasty germs! It is important to wash hands before and after patient contact, as well as many other times possible throughout the day to not continue the spread of the germs.

1) Start by thoroughly wetting hands with warm, running water
2) Apply anti-bacterial soap
3) Rub soap over the front and back of your hands, between fingers, and under fingernails for at least 20 continuous seconds
4) Rinse all soap off, and dry hands thoroughly

When on the go, be sure to utilize hand-sanitizer for a quick “hand wash”! Don’t catch those dirty germs, keep your hands clean!

Why do people hire home health aides?

Have you ever wondered why more and more people nowadays choose to hire a home health aide in order to take care of their elderly relative? If you ever asked yourself this question, you should continue reading this article to find out what are the reasons why people seek help from home health aides.

First of all, when thinking why people need home health assistance, we should keep in mind that, unlike in the past, when women did not have to work, nowadays, women as well as men have to work hard in order to ensure a living for their families. So, we can say that the main reason why they seek for help is because they no longer have the time needed to care after an elderly person.

Another reason why the need for health care aides is increasing, even in areas such as Palm Beach, Delray Beach, and Boca Raton, is the fact that the relatives of the senior citizen that needs assistance live in another city. This is also a problem caused mainly by their job, as many of the today`s jobs involve relocating.

People nowadays also have a much more comfortable lifestyle, and for many, having to clean after an elderly person, or having to cook meals for the person in question have become tasks that are two difficult, or embarrassing. They therefore decide to hire an aide to do the job for them, even if they do not need one.

On the other hand, there are some cases when the relatives do not have the required knowledge in order to take care of a senior citizen, especially when it comes to administrating intravenous treatment.

Understanding the meaning of home care

Have you ever wondered what does the term home care actually mean? If your answer to this question is yes, then you should further read this article to find out everything there is to know about home care, so you will completely understand its meaning.

Home care, or in-home care, refers to the services provided by a licensed healthcare professional, for an adult or senior citizen, who needs extra care after hospitalization. It can also refer to people who need additional care, without having to stay in the hospital.

The services that are provided by a home health care association can vary depending on every patient`s needs. These services can include:

  • Changing the laundry.
  • Cooking
  • Administrating the required medication to the patient
  • Keeping the patient`s doctor up-to-date with his health condition
  • Bathing the patient if he is unable to do this on his own
  • Etc

Even though for most of us these tasks may seem very easy to do, but for senior citizens, simple tasks such as cooking or bathing can pose difficulties. Some of them can even get injured while performing tasks like this, and in order to keep them away from danger, the help of a health care aide is crucial.

You do not have to worry about not finding a company that offers such services in your area, because they can be found almost everywhere, even in regions such as West Palm Beach, Pompano Beach, Parkland, and even Palm Beach Gardens.

Because these are essential for ensuring the good living of elderly, or even adult people who are having trouble when it comes to taking care of themselves, home health care services are often offered by the government, but those can also be covered by life insurance, so you do not need to worry about money.

How to start your own home health agency: there’s more to it than just money

Have you ever thought of opening your own home health agency? If your answer to this question is yes, then here you can find important information on everything you have to do when you want to start such a business.

  1. Putting the basis of a home health agency: name, account, headquarters

The first step, as with other businesses, is to do everything that is required in the area where you live for registering your business. Here we can include things such as: register the name or opening a bank account.

After you successfully completed this step, you must now find an area where your business can prosper. In this case you should look for areas where the number of senior citizens is higher. You can also check for areas that have adult day care, and also retirement centers.

  1. Hiring home care specialists and applying for reimbursement

Furthermore, you need to hire some employees so you can get the business started. The requirements you have to meet in order to qualify for this may differ from country to country. After successfully obtaining a license you need to hire some employees.

You can do that by using the services of professional companies that deal with recruitment. But since more and more people (even those living in areas such as Palm Beach, Delray Beach, or Boca Raton), are looking for jobs online, you can post an advertisement on profile web sites.

Last but not least, you should apply for Medicaid and Medicare reimbursement. In order to qualify for this, besides having to be bonded, you also need additional qualification. After you obtain such reimbursement, Medicare delegates will constantly inspect your agency to see whether or not you comply with the health and safety regulations that apply where you settled your company.

Home Health Care in Palm Beach, Boca Raton and West palm Beach, FL

Home care as an increasing business

Home care is a growing business nowadays, with more and more companies that offer such services appearing on the market. This is due to the fact that, the number of people who need such services is also increasing, and their relatives do not have the time necessary to watch and help them.

  1. Home care is more than just a simple business

Home care services, can be real life savers for elderly people who, because of their age, or other health problems cannot take care of themselves. The services offered by such companies include: serving meals, washing and changing the patient and the laundry, keeping an eye on the patient`s medical condition and also the doctor updated, and even administrating the medication that the patient has to receive.

For some patients however, a home health care aide is not only a person who takes care of their needs but also a friend. This happens as a consequence of the fact that lots of them cannot move freely on their own anymore, and have limited access with people from outside of their house. This can be very affecting for some of them, and the fact that they simply have someone to talk to, helps them a lot.

  1. How can you pay for home care if your income is low?

Even though home health care can be costly, if you own a health insurance policy you have nothing to worry about because all the costs that may occur will be entirely covered by your insurance company. In some countries it is the government that provides help to those in need who do not afford to pay for health insurance.

In conclusion, we can say that home health care is very important for patients who need medical attention daily, or for those who have trouble moving and cannot care for themselves.
